Mobile App and PWA
Install meil as an app on iPhone, Android, and desktop for quick access and a dedicated app window.
Install from my.onmeil.eu
Use the address my.onmeil.eu when you install — not onmeil.eu. onmeil.eu is our information site, so installing from there gives you an icon that opens that page instead of your inbox.
App without the App Store
meil is a PWA (Progressive Web App) that works just like a regular app but installs straight from your browser. No App Store needed, and it updates automatically.
Install on iPhone and iPad
- Open my.onmeil.eu in Safari
- Tap the Share button (the box with an upward arrow)
- Choose Add to Home Screen
- Give the app a name and tap Add
Tip
Once it's installed, open the app from your home screen. It has its own app icon and opens in a clean window without the Safari menu.
Install on Android
- Open my.onmeil.eu in Chrome or Samsung Internet
- Tap the menu button (three dots)
- Choose Install app
- Confirm with Install
On many phones a window also appears at the bottom of the screen asking whether you want to install. It does the same thing — tap Install.
Other browsers
Other Chromium-based browsers, such as Vivaldi and Brave, do not always offer Install app in the menu. There you choose Add to Home Screen instead. You get an icon, but not necessarily a dedicated app window — see Shortcut or app? below.
Install on PC or Mac
- Open my.onmeil.eu in Chrome or Edge
- Look for the install icon in the address bar (a small computer with a down arrow)
- Click the icon and choose Install
Tip
The PWA lands in the app menu on Windows and in Launchpad on Mac. You can also pin it to the taskbar.
Shortcut or app?
Two things can look the same on your home screen but behave differently:
- Installed app — its own icon, opens in a dedicated window with no address bar
- Shortcut — an icon that opens meil in an ordinary browser tab
The full installation on Android is built by a Google service and requires the phone to have Google Play services. If you have a phone without Google, or a browser that does not use that service, you get a shortcut instead. meil still works — what you miss is the app window, not the features.
App features
Once you've installed meil as an app, you get:
- A dedicated app window without browser menus
- An app icon on your home screen or in the app menu
- The option to keep several accounts open at the same time
- Automatic updates (no need to update manually)
Firefox
Firefox on Android does not offer installation. Use Add to Home Screen instead — that gives you a shortcut, not a dedicated app window.
